<description>Usawirishaji wa Uhusika katika riwaya za Rosa Mistika na Maisha Kitendawili
Muia, Shadrack Tete; Mutua, John; Makoti, Vifu
Makala hii inajadili usawirishaji wa uhusika katika riwaya za Rosa&#13;
Mistika na Maisha Kitendawili. Kipengele cha wahusika ni muhimu&#13;
katika kazi ya fasihi kwani hushirikiana na vipengele vingine vya&#13;
fani ili kutoa ujumbe wa kazi ya fasihi. Kwa kawaida wahusika&#13;
hujengwa kisanaa na mwandishi ili waweze kuwasilisha dhana&#13;
mbalimbali za maisha katika jamii. Kwa hivyo lengo la makala hii&#13;
ni kuchambua uwashirishaji wa wahusika wakuu katika riwaya&#13;
za Rosa Mistika ya Euphrase Kezilahabi na Maisha Kitendawili&#13;
ya John Habwe Kwa kawaida wahusika hujengwa kisanaa na&#13;

katika jamii. Kipengele cha wahusika ni muhimu katika kazi ya&#13;
fasihi kwani hushirikiana na vipengele vingine vya fani ili kutoa&#13;
ujumbe wa kazi ya fasihi. Mwandishi huwajenga wahusika wake&#13;
kwa kutumia mbinu mbalimbali ili kuwatofautisha na kuiwezesha&#13;
hadhira yake kutambua sifa za mhusika fulani na kutofautisha na&#13;
mhusika mwingine katika kazi ya fasihi. Kwa hivyo lengo la makala&#13;
hii ni kubainisha mfanano wa wahusika wakuu katika riwaya za&#13;
Rosa Mistika (Euphrase Kezilahabi) na Maisha Kitendawili (John&#13;
Habwe). Ili kufikia lengo la makala hii tumeongozwa na nadharia ya&#13;
udhanaishi. Nadharia hii imetuwezesha kubainisha sifa za wahusika&#13;
wakuu kama zilivyosawiriwa na waandishi.

<title>Effect of Training on Hazard Prevention on Performance of Cement Manufacturing Firms in Kenya</title>
<link>http://ir.mksu.ac.ke/handle/123456780/15801</link>
<description>Effect of Training on Hazard Prevention on Performance of Cement Manufacturing Firms in Kenya
Mwaruta, Selerina Samba; Karanja, Patrick Ngugi; Kamaara, Mary
This study sought to find out the effect of hazard prevention training on the performance of cement&#13;
manufacturing companies in Kenya. Manufacturing firms are spending a lot of money to take care of their&#13;
workers’ absenteeism and compensation which is caused by occupational accidents. It has been argued that lack of&#13;
hazard prevention training has majorly contributed to the continued losses to the companies due to occupational&#13;
accidents among the employees. It therefore becomes necessary to assess the effect of hazard prevention training&#13;
on the performance of manufacturing companies in the cement sub-sector in Kenya. The study adopted the&#13;
descriptive research design which used both quantitative and qualitative approach to determine the relationship&#13;
between employee training and Performance of Cement Manufacturing firms in Kenya. The study adopted a&#13;
sampling formula to identify 344 as the appropriate sample size and the respondents were picked through&#13;
stratified random sampling. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire for employees that had both openended and close-ended questions. Hypotheses were tested using linear regression, multiple regression analysis. The&#13;
study established that hazard prevention training had significant and positive effect on performance of cement&#13;
manufacturing firms in Kenya. The study also established that management styles had significant moderating&#13;
effect on the relationship between hazard prevention training and performance of cement manufacturing firms in&#13;
Kenya. The study concluded that as a result of hazard prevention training, the awareness on how to prevent&#13;
hazard was enhanced thus preventing occupational accidents and promoting employee productivity. The study&#13;
recommended that there was considerable need to provide training on need hazard prevention to the employees so&#13;
as to avoid work-related accidents and promote performance.

<title>Popular Art and the Reconfiguration of Political Intolerance in Kenya</title>
<link>http://ir.mksu.ac.ke/handle/123456780/14079</link>
<description>Popular Art and the Reconfiguration of Political Intolerance in Kenya
Kebaya, Charles
Political intolerance is a recurrent feature in any general election in Kenya. The charged political atmosphere during elections has often seen heated verbal tiffs among politicians and supporters of opposing political leanings degenerate into intimidation, violence, eviction of tenants from their houses, discrimination at the workplace, denial of job opportunities, and even murder of political opponents, among many other atrocious acts. This article explores how popular artistic productions deployed by the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition in the run-up to the 8 August 2017 general elections to galvanise the electorate in its nationwide campaigns implicitly sparked intolerance among their political opponents. The article examines popular art forms such as popular songs, cartoons, memes and popular religious songs that centre on this historical period in the country and are directly associated with the NASA coalition. The article shows how these creative art forms morph into vehicles of political aspirations, codifying political visions and manifestos. They become central to political struggle and contestations over power, and when reconfigured, potentially anchor political intolerance.

<title>Dinka Community Case Study</title>
<link>http://ir.mksu.ac.ke/handle/123456780/14070</link>
<description>Dinka Community Case Study
Kamwaria, Alex Namu
This case study explores the therapeutic power of indigenous rituals to heal the trauma experienced by Dinka victims and perpetrators of armed conflict. Field data reveals that the Dinka diagnosed as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) were prescribed treatment based on Western-oriented therapeutic approaches. Temporal and linguistic problems arose during these new and unfamiliar trauma treatments. For the Dinka, their suffering was not at all ‘post’ but very much in the present. The study examines how adapting traditional Dinka rituals contributed to individual reintegration and communal reconciliation to effect healing and assuage trauma.
